I feel like being a movie critic... so here it goes:

I would give Twilight a 3.5 out of 5 stars because I loved the story, but the actors I felt portrayed the characters badly.
First off, let me set the stage, I had ~ponychick777 on one side of me and she punched me every time she got excited and then my friends little sister on the other side of me, and she repeats every line she likes, so throughout the whole movie I was getting punched and listening to the best commentary ever: "Hahaha, thats funny: He's the one who looks like hes in pain!"

Edward seemed too stiff and serious, when he joked, it fell flat and I definitely thought he was a funny guy. And same problems with Bella, when she "flirted" with Jacob on the beach, it was the worst flirting i've seen my whole life, I was almost embarrassed! As for the other characters they were fine, I did think Jaspers face was hilarious.

The best part by far was when they were in the Ballet Studio and Edward was sucking the venom out of Bella's arm, I was laughing SO hard at his face I felt bad because people were like "awwwwe" But it was so funny, I actually almost screamed "NOM NOM NOM!!!" but I refrained.

The best part of the whole movie was the Trailer for Harry Potter, I must admit, I screamed really loudly and clapped thinking others would join in, but no one did...

Anyway... I know that it was the directors version of the film and I think she did a great job, I thought the camera angles were awesome and the special effects were very cool, I really liked when Edward sparkled.

I would give Twilight a 4.5 out of 5 stars because i loved the story and how they transitioned it to the movie, and the actors i felt portrayed the characters very well--making them seem like how i imagined them while (for most) making them their own.

First off, let me set the stage, i went to the midnight premiere, thus i was surrounded on all sides by high energy and tension. Everybody screamed when i did and laughed at all the right moments which made me pick up things i may not have before.

I thought Robert Pattinson was able to portray the emotions that go through edward (tho you don't really know about unless you read midnight sun) very well and generally subtly. I really liked Kristen Stewart's portrayal of Bella, she gave her constant mannerisms and was able to pull of the clumsyness without looking forced and overall she just acted the part very naturally. I didn't have any problems with any of the actors. Never did an actor appear on screen and i thought: "oh no." I liked all the Cullens and can't wait for the next movie to see their characters get more screen time. I thought Peter Facinelli played Carlisle exactly like i imagined him. Esme was sweet tho she hasn't got much of a chance to prove her character, yet. Emmett was hilarious (knife wave anyone? loved it). Rosalie got the attitude down. Alice had the voice (yay) tho i may be a little curious as to how she will continue acting in the next movies (and her lipstick bothered me, to take a small hit to makeup, which i thought for everyone else was good). Jasper, damn, the face was good, definitely showed the inward struggle with his desire for blood (i can't wait to see him attack Bella), and i was officially jazzled by him at the baseball scene. James, i liked the "humor" he portrayed in his games. Laurent, eh, whatever. Victoria--loved the end scene, i've heard people bitch about it, but the tear stricken face slowly turning to vengeance while taking the hair down, going to black and white, i just thought: "hell yeah" and it reminded me of the ending to Kill Bill? Jacob, hmm, i think he needs to go on a vacation for some character soul searching, but i thought the friendship chemistry between him and Bella was excellent: *Bang* "sorry" (haha). But i loved loved loved the stare down between Jacob and Edward at the end, that is when i really saw Jacob in Taylor Lautner. Billy Black, adorable: "i'm down with the kids." "oh yeah, you're the bomb." Charlie, perfect, i imagined the way he looked just a little different, but i care no more. i loved the awkward silences and comedic timing. Mike was funny. All the high school friends i thought made a great comedic aspect to the movie and an interesting contrast to the Cullens, as it should be. "prom...with...me?" Poor Mike. Jessica was just how i imagined she would act. Angela, i wish they showed a little more of how sweet she is, but i think they got the first layer of her personality down. Eric, also funny, which was nice. I hope they bring Ben in.

I loved all the little things in the book, most of which were left out of the movie, but i honestly didn't mind, it would have been nice to see more of them, and they did have the time to put them in. But i didn't notice they were gone till i got out of the theater. i felt the story moved smoothely, nothing drawn out for too long. Though, Bella's escape from Alice and Jasper was much too easy, we can all agree on that. The glittering is growing on me. It was a low budget film so i don't hold their special effects against them.

I'm not a huge fan of the photoshop done on the posters, i think they make Edward look like the monster kind of vampire. But i liked that (i just wanted to say this) when Edward wanted to rip those guys heads off, he looked like that poster, like the vicious kind of vampire. As for when he was sucking the venom out of Bella (oh, loved how he said the line: "Carlisle!") especially towards the end, i thought his expression showed the pain of his inner conflict, knowing he was killing her but unable to stop because of what he was. Thought the "visual collage" between the sucking out of the venom and the hospital scene received the cricket affect in my theater followed by "ummm." :P

Definitely loved the Harry Potter trailer on the big screen, my friends made me stay in my seat...
My theater wouldn't stop screaming for the trailer but i liked it that way, as i already had it memorized :3

I liked that this wasn't a huge production film, i think it is better that way for Twilight. Rather than show off flashy effects, Catherine Hardwicke kept the shots more intimate, which i think is really what the fans wanted. because this really is a film for the fans, with the apple and stephanie's cameo for sure. I liked most of the directing but i felt that for some of the camera angles, there were certain shots she really wanted but she didn't think about how they would fit in (but i think this was more of a problem with editing). i really don't have a big problem at all with this, it was just noticeable in the forrest scene.

Book vs. Movie. I loved all the little things in the book (like Edward walking Bella to Gym and touching her cheek, coming to her "rescue" on the bio blood day, etc.). The movie had better writing, and luckily the screenwriter really understood the characters, and at the same time she kept the staple lines, like "the lion and the lamb" and "the three things", etc. But most of all, with the movie, you get to see Edward, and i may just be a stupid fangirl, but.... he is do damn good looking in that movie, it makes you feel what Bella described in the book. :)

Tori... wow... I must agree with you on everything. But I am comparing it to films such as Le Strada, 8 1/5, Amelie, Strangers on a Train and Dark Passage and other amazing critically aclaimed films... If I didn't know those films I would agree with you on the 4.5 stars (not that i'm saying or implying in any sense that you are not a movie watcher or anything, I am just saying that those movies have forever impacted my view on movies)... but because I do, I am sticking with 3.5. :) This was the best comment I have ever had girl, you rock!

Okay, I don't plan on reading Tori's comments because I'm sure she told me them/I know them anyway, as I as sitting next to her...and that message is just dense.
So if any of these are repeats, sorry. :P

In terms of audience, I thought we had a pretty cool one. I went to the midnight premiere - Tori was the FIRST person in our theatre. I was proud to be right behind her. :) The vibe the midnight audience gives is overwhelming. You can't help but be enthused. Yeah, they screamed a bit to much a points, but that made it so much better.

I went to see it at 7pm the next day as well. The audience was no where near as fun - so many hadn't read the books. There were points when Bella tripped - the first audience burst into laughter. I was the only one the second time. There were times when everyone screamed at the first one...I don't know. I liked the screaming, and everybody shut up eventually. :)

In terms of actors. I may be biased: I've always loved Robert Pattinson - Edward - and the boy who played Jasper. Carlisle was PERFECT and AMAZING. I wish Esme had had more lines. I was pretty happy with how they were cast. Bella, however, was a bit monotone...she could have had a lot more emotion in her voice. Edward's speech grew on me, though I hated it at first.

I totally agree about the scene on the beach - that was not flirting in any world! Horrible. I was upset with Jacob.

And yeah, the face Edward made getting the venom...that made me sad. It was creepy. I was hysterical. ;D

In terms of technical stuff - I'll agree with Tori (which I got from skimming) about the posters. SO PAINFUL. Tori hung one up in the art room, which I'm sure you saw, and that just hurts to look at.
I thought the flying was horrible. I don't know, just not well done.

I hope New Moon is better, but I doubt it will be - mostly because it's not as good of a book...

And honestly, Pattinson makes me melt, so I couldn't not love that movie.
Favorite scene: the sunglasses!! That scene gives me the chills everytime. I listen to the song from the scene often, just to help picture it. So...attractive! And I loved the lines in that scene - "Everyone is looking!" "Not that guy...oh wait, he just looked." "I'm going to hell anyway..."

So I loved it. But it wasn't the best movie of all time. The books are much better.
:iconbeabean:
wow. That is amazing Maggie!
I agree, Robert is amazingly gorgeous but I find Jaskson Rathbone who plays Jasper even better, he really makes me melt actually. Carlisle was perfect, he really was and Esme was as well and I was bummed that she didn't have more of a role... but she will later. I loved Rosalie and Alice as well, they were very well cast. And the flying and running was too obviously fake for me, but I really liked his sparkliness, it was so creepy and scary looking which is how I imagined it to be.
